Challenge

Backed by S2G Investments, who funds companies for scale and impact in transitioning sectors, Comfort Connect is shifting to a more direct to consumer business model, and also scaling its dealer network. This growth brings challenges to the back-office, specifically invoice processing. Comfort Connect aimed to automate invoice validation, replacing its slow, error-prone manual process with an 80% automation goal to significantly reduce delays and improve accuracy.

Solution

Macula assessed Comfort Connect’s invoice processing workflows, capturing key data and automation opportunities. Working closely with the client’s technical team, Macula designed and tested a POC using AWS Textract to validate OCR-based automation. After proving feasibility, the team developed a roadmap and piloted the solution with the largest dealer, refining it for full-scale deployment.
Macula leveraged AI, OCR, and cloud automation to build an invoice processing system that streamlined validation and reduced manual effort. AWS Textract enabled text extraction, while Python-based matching libraries improved accuracy in aligning invoice data. AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and S3 automated processing, with AWS Step Functions orchestrating validation logic for scalability. Macula guided next steps and designed a production-ready framework to expand automation across Comfort Connect’s footprint.
By deploying AI services from the AWS platform, Macula designed, tested, and deployed a production-ready pilot that reads and creates invoices, handles and routes exceptions, and automates the workflow process. The solution resulted in straight-through processing for over 80% of the invoices, and returned a positive ROI within weeks of launching.
